I think the fact that people are most vulnerable when having sex is probably a part of the fear as well. In an intimate moment between two people, the last thing they’d want to have interfering them would be a masked man with a knife… It’s interesting that you saw that pattern in the movie though. Your piece also reminds me of “It Follows”. I think it would be another fun movie for you to analyze and add to your theory.
