Hi James,

Love this advice — we create so many excuses about how we can’t help but be the person we are right now so that we can stay comfortable and ignore the fact that maybe, if we put in an effort, we could develop better habits and become better versions of ourselves.

I find that the reward part is extremely important — often times when we build habits we overestimate our dedication and do not build a system that is sustainable for a long period of time. I used to treat myself to a small protein shake for going to the gym, and was able to continue going for 3 months. We have to be kind to ourselves and give ourselves rewards for small things that we do. Then and only then do we gain confidence and create an incentivized system that is easy to follow and ultimately helps improve our lives.

Thanks for the advice James! It seems very reminiscent to the advice found in the book the power of habit — have you read this book by any chance?
